We camped at Petoskey State Park where we found fossels on the beach. A Petoskey stone consists of tightly packed, six-sided corallites, which are the skeletons of the once-living coral polyps. The center of each polyp was the mouth and contained tentacles that reached out for food.
A Petroskey stone.
Looking for Petrosky stones. The beach was just over the hill from our campsite.
Sunset at the beach.
The last rays of sunset at Petrosky beach. You can see the path from our campsite in the foreground.
